The uninterrupted panoramic views of Walker Bay and the surrounding mountain range extend up to Hangklip and even the Cape of Good Hope on a clear day. Next to the infinity pool, a private path winds its way through the fynbos vegetation that is indigenous to the Western Cape, taking you to the water’s edge, or to a walking trail that extends for more than 15 kilometers from the Gansbaai to the pristine beaches of the Walker Bay Nature Conservancy near Hermanus.

Located less than two hours from Cape Town International Airport, Villa Balena self-catering accommodation is well-positioned as a weekend escape from Cape Town or Johannesburg. With Cape Agulhas, the southern-most tip of Africa, lying just 85 km to the southeast, you’ll find Villa Balena the perfect spot to start your garden route tour.

The villa is built directly on the Whale Coast in the De Kelders (Overberg region, Western Cape), affording visitors some of the best land-based whale watching in the world directly from the numerous balconies and deck during June to November! Also during the rest of the year, dolphins, seals, dassies (rock hyrax), mongooses, tortoises, and dozens of species of birds provide a delightful and intimate experience with nature.

ACCOMMODATION

Main Level

• The main entrance of the villa welcomes you onto the mid-level. This is the main living space where the following areas and amenities can be found.
• the Main balcony stretches the length of the eco villa. This is the best spot to enjoy a morning coffee or a sundowner drink in the evening.
• Fully equipped gourmet kitchen with eco-friendly appliances, multi-function SMEG oven, induction stovetop, and dishwasher.
• TV lounge with slow combustion fireplace, smart TV connected to DStv Premium, and DVD player.
• Office area with a large desk, laptop, and high-speed fiber connection. High-speed wireless is available throughout the villa.
• Dining room in the central atrium with 8-meter high thatch ceiling
• The master bedroom with ensuite bathroom (walk-in shower & double sink) and separate toilet.

Lower Level

• Moving down the flight of stairs to the lower level brings you to the recreational and outdoor facilities on the lower level. Here you will find the following:
• Smaller kitchenette/bar area near the outdoor braai area with refrigerator, phone/music device docking station, flat-screen TV with all DStv Premium sport channels, washing machine, and clothes drying rack.
• Outdoor braai lounge with built-in braai.
• Private gym with a multi-exercise weight machine, exercise bike, and yoga mats.
• Large indoor seating area overlooking the saltwater infinity pool.
• Large eco wood (recycled plastic) deck (the best spot for breakfast).
• Outdoor shower – for washing the beach sand off your feet.

Upper Level

• The upper level is composed of the remaining three ensuite bedrooms. Each has its own private ocean-facing balcony view of the beautiful natural surroundings.
• Three ensuite bedrooms.
• Two ensuite bathrooms with showers.
• The third ensuite bathroom has a shower and bathtub.
• All the bedrooms, including the main bedroom on the mid-level, have built-in cupboards, cooling fans, and romantic diaphanous white mosquito nets.
• Panel heaters and electric blankets for cooler winter nights.
• The thatch roof naturally manages the ventilation and room temperatures.
• All rooms have a high-thread-count 100% cotton sheets and duvet covers.

Cancellation

Cancel up to 60 days before your trip and only pay 30% of the total accommodation fees for the reservation.
Cancel within 60 days of the trip and the reservation is non-refundable.
