Capannori, Lucca – Tuscany, Italy
At the foot of Monte Pisano, in the Vorno valley, (6 km from Lucca) is this beautiful typical Tuscan farmhouse, nestled among olive groves. In front of the house, a wooden bridge over a small pond leads to a charming private island shaded by trees.
The property was the home of the famous architect Felice Matteucci who invented the first striking engine (prototype for the modern car) in his on-site laboratory.
He lived in this home from 1808 to 1887 where he conducted his most important scientific research.
Matteucci was the son of the famous Minister of Justice of the Republic of Lucca and noblewoman Angiola Tomei Albiani. Over the centuries the house has hosted many fancy events and noble ceremonies. Today it is a charming villa for rent with 6 beautiful bedrooms with private bathrooms. Moreover, its beautiful and magnificent park is perfect for wedding parties and social events.
Villa Felice is a gem of a Tuscan farmhouse set on a stunning estate of hill-terraced olive groves and overlooking a small lake with its own little tree-shaded island reached by a wooden bridge. It is a special home of great comfort and elegance with 6 luxuriously appointed guestrooms each with magnificent en-suite bath/shower rooms for up to twelve guests.
The ground floor is spacious and sunny offering salon with comfortable sofas, a guest study, a grand domed dining room and Tuscan kitchen. The jasmine covered gazebo surrounded by lawned gardens sets the perfect backdrop to the flood-lit swimming pool. Villa Felice is a blissful retreat to discover and enjoy the magical beauty of la dolce vita.
