VILLA LORD BYRON
Bedrooms 4, Bathrooms 4
Lerici, Gulf of Poets – Liguria, Italy
Charming luxury waterfront residence, located in a dominant and panoramic position, on the first hills of Lerici, with a wonderful sea view that stretches from the Gulf of Poets to the picturesque Castle. This house, unique of its kind, was built in 1963 on a project by “André Svetchine” of Nice, a famous architect of international fame and Russian origin, well known and appreciated for having designed the villas of various famous people such as Christian Dior, Henry Pierre Heineken, and Marc Chagall, just to name a few.
The property occupies a panoramic and at the same time very comfortable position, just 600 meters from all the main services and from the wonderful beaches that characterize this stretch of coast. Porto Lotti, one of the main and most refined private ports in Liguria, is only 3 km away and can be easily reached in a few minutes by car.
Internally the villa boasts very large and bright rooms, many of which have a sea view, all enriched with quality materials and arranged on three levels. The majestic entrance on the ground floor is characterized by a sumptuous staircase and slate floor, adjacent to the hall has been set up a very comfortable room used as a cloakroom from which you can reach the garage, where you can easily park the car and enter the house.
From the entrance hall, we reach the spacious living area, where we can admire wonderful Impruneta terracotta and marble floors, consisting of a large and welcoming living room with an ancient stone fireplace and magnificent veranda with a sea view, a dining room connected to the functional kitchen custom-made with pantry and laundry, a small technical room, the service bathroom, and the elevator shaft, inside the house, which leads to the upper floor. Also on this floor, an apartment for the guardian has been prepared, with an independent entrance, consisting of a kitchen-dining room, bathroom, and bedroom.
On the first floor, there is a comfortable sleeping area, here the corridor connects all the 4 bedrooms including a master bedroom with a study area and private bathroom (whirlpool tub and shower), a guest bedroom also with private bathroom and two further bedrooms both served by a service bathroom with separate shower and toilet. All the bathrooms in the house have been finely renovated recently with high-quality finishes. Going up another floor we find ourselves in the very particular room for study use – a circular library where you can read or work in total privacy and complete tranquility.
Externally, the villa is surrounded by an Italian-style terraced park of about 3,000 square meters planted with olive trees, fruit trees, flowers, and lavender, where we can admire a splendid fountain with various terraces and relaxation / sunbathing areas where you can relax at the sight of the panorama.
In addition to the lemon house, three rooms have also been created in the park for use as a cellar closet, very convenient for storing tools and garden furniture. The alarm system, the autoclave, and the WIFI internet coverage complete this property.
This property’s extraordinarily peaceful setting, where utmost privacy is guaranteed, will probably make you reluctant to venture far afield! However, if you do wish to explore the natural and historic attractions of this scenically outstanding area, this location makes it an ideal strategic base.
The seashore is about 5 minutes by car.
The charming old fishing villages of Lerici and San Terenzo, now sophisticated luxury resorts, with fine beaches and excellent restaurants, are about 3 km away. The panoramic coastal road leading to the residence winds its way uphill through luxuriant, seductively aromatic Mediterranean “maquis” vegetation and takes you through a string of picturesque little villages hugging the coastline. Lerici and San Terenzo are the nearest villages where you can find restaurants, bars, and grocery shops. Regular ferry services run from the port of Lerici to connect with such enticing seaside destinations as Portovenere and the Cinque Terre villages; while further inland you can enjoy cultural sightseeing in the ancient Roman town of Luni, with its fascinating museum. The world-famous Carrara quarries, the source of all Michelangelo’s superb white marble, is also situated in the near vicinity.
The splendid historic cities of Genoa, Lucca, and Pisa are all about an hour’s drive away, while Florence is approximately 1 hour and a half away by car.
