Located in the very north of Tuscany, Villa Il Duca was the residence of the Este Family during the dukedom period of Modena and Reggio ( 1598 – 1796 ). The eagle you can see in the coat of arms on the main door of the mansion is its evidence. Villa Il Duca is situated in the lovely 13th-century village of Tavernelle along with the old Via del Sale (Salt Road).
Recently restored and refurbished, the palace has its original features, like spacious living areas and terracotta floors, local sandstone portals, doors, and stunning vaults. It also boasts a wonderful ancient staircase and in one bedroom there is even a fireplace, a ‘must’ for all the ancient Dukes of the past.

Villa Il Duca is now a rental self-catering property. You can rent from the two occupancies rental apartment to the entire house with a max. occupancy of 25 people.

If you are looking for an off-the-beaten-path holiday, don’t look any further: Villa Il Duca boasts a great private and tranquil garden where you can enjoy herbs and colorful flowers all the season through. Not to talk about the refreshing water of the pool that is open from April to October every year.

Ideal for celebrating special events like birthdays, anniversaries, graduation parties, or “boutique” weddings. On request, we can arrange catering and wedding planning.

ACCOMMODATION

Villa Il Duca consists of five apartments and one double bedroom. Each apartment is independent of the other with its kitchen and heating. Each bedroom of Villa Il Duca has its bathroom.

Each apartment has its charming style. For example, the Templari apartment on the ground floor retains some of the original kitchen facilities while the Luni apartment is reminiscent of a New York loft apartment.
The apartments can be rented together allowing the stay of 8 – 12- 18 persons. Also, ideal location for weddings, family meetings, and events the whole palace may be rented to a max. of 26 people.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

HEATING – Heating is available at an additional charge of 30,00 Euros per day and must be paid directly on the spot to the owner or his/her representative before departing. Please note that heating in Italy, when not subject to restrictions by the local Government, is more expensive compared to other countries. If you are looking for a property in the low season, make sure to ask for an estimate of the heating cost. You may be asked for a supplementary deposit for heating expenses.

WATER AND ELECTRICITY – Please note that most of the properties that we offer are not the typical purpose-built Mediterranean holiday villas. Most are converted farmhouses or former manor houses, full of character and history. Water shortages do occur; please use it sparingly during the summer months. At the same time, Italy is probably one of the few countries in the world where the government has introduced a system of electricity limitators to contain national consumption. This means you must be careful when using more than one appliance at once because the limitator will shut the electricity off.

Cancellation

Cancel up to 61 days before your trip and only pay 30% of the total accommodation fees for the reservation.
Cancel within 60 days of the trip and the reservation is non-refundable.

All credit card holders must be aged 25 years and older at the time of booking. According to Italian law (ART. 109 – TULPS), the owners and/or managers of any touristic structure are required to register their guests with the authorities before allowing their access to the facilities. To facilitate the registration, process you will be required to provide complete contact details (name, last name, address, telephone number, etc.), a copy of the passport, and the authorization to hold these details by law (D. Lgs. 196/2003) on privacy protection, before you arrived at the property. This information cannot be used to promote, sell, or solicit any service or product to you and is required only for the individual responsible for the rental agreement. For late check-in (after 8 pm) an extra cost of 50,00 euros is required to be paid in cash upon arrival.
